Too much coughing!

Monday, April 20, 2009

Guess what? We're sick again! It's been a rough winter for my munchkins. They're coughing and have runny noses again, poor things. Rori had it first and was up for a few hours in the middle of the night coughing. The poor girl was exhausted. She was so tired on Friday that in the morning she told Bill, "I'm coughing too much to sleep. And to play. And to eat. But maybe I'm not coughing too much for cinnamon rolls!" As you wish, my dear.

My day

Yesterday I was feeling better--finally! So I decided to get some things done.

I vacuumed

I cooked dinner

I even did dishes.

It's rough being me...

My poor kitty

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

***I know, two posts in two days! Go me!***
Poor Vader got himself a big owie on his rear end. Bill and I noticed that he had a spot where there wasn't any hair and upon closer look there was an actual hole. I couldn't look too closely because I started to get squeamish and my knees buckled a bit. Bill and I wrestled him into his cat carrier (actually we chased him into the bathroom and Bill shut himself in and I heard things like, "you stupid #$^%# and "ouch!" and "are you kidding me?" and then he calmly exited with a few scratches and the cat in the carrier).

Upon taking him to the vet, they told Bill that it was Vader's muscle showing through the hole. I chose not to take a picture, because, well, it was gross and I'm squeamish. Thank me later. Anyway, the cost to stitch my stupid poor kitty was around $460. Exactly what I was hoping to spend on this

So, thanks for that, Vader.... Honestly, though, this cat needs to live for about 20 years in order for us to get our money's worth of enjoyment out of him. Before Rori was born, he had a bladder infection that turned into much worse and I am too embarassed to say what that cost us, but we're still working on getting our money's worth of enjoyment out of him for that one! Thank goodnes for his (knock on wood) healthy brother!

Chicken or the Egg

Monday, April 6, 2009

Ok, so this post doesn't really have anything to do with a chicken, but I thought it was cute that Rori had just insisted on having her picture taken with a chicken toy around the same time we colored Easter eggs :)
Anyway, yesterday we colored Easter eggs for the first time. It was so fun watching her get excited about coloring them. I had only made 18 hard boiled eggs, but I wished I had done 24 because she had so much fun. I had bought the supplies a few years ago on clearance and couldn't wait until she was old enough to do it. I can't believe how big my girl is getting! It was so great watching her childlike wonder as she mixed the colors and saw "how beautiful" each one was. The set was extra special because it came with glitter--and she loooooved that!

I am really excited, because she is just now really learning about what Easter is about. Bill and I have been reading to her about the crucifixion and resurrection, and yesterday for the first time, when I asked her what she learned about in Sunday School, she didn't say "Jesus." She said, "I learned about when they killed Jesus." Then we talked about how next Sunday she would learn about how Jesus came back to life. I just really want her to "get" it, and while she's not quite there, yesterday I heard her talking in the kitchen and I went in and she had her eyes closed and her hands folded and was praying. I'm not really sure what she was praying about, but I am so glad she has really started to understand it.
Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not turn away from it."
