Chicken or the Egg

Monday, April 6, 2009

Ok, so this post doesn't really have anything to do with a chicken, but I thought it was cute that Rori had just insisted on having her picture taken with a chicken toy around the same time we colored Easter eggs :)
Anyway, yesterday we colored Easter eggs for the first time. It was so fun watching her get excited about coloring them. I had only made 18 hard boiled eggs, but I wished I had done 24 because she had so much fun. I had bought the supplies a few years ago on clearance and couldn't wait until she was old enough to do it. I can't believe how big my girl is getting! It was so great watching her childlike wonder as she mixed the colors and saw "how beautiful" each one was. The set was extra special because it came with glitter--and she loooooved that!

I am really excited, because she is just now really learning about what Easter is about. Bill and I have been reading to her about the crucifixion and resurrection, and yesterday for the first time, when I asked her what she learned about in Sunday School, she didn't say "Jesus." She said, "I learned about when they killed Jesus." Then we talked about how next Sunday she would learn about how Jesus came back to life. I just really want her to "get" it, and while she's not quite there, yesterday I heard her talking in the kitchen and I went in and she had her eyes closed and her hands folded and was praying. I'm not really sure what she was praying about, but I am so glad she has really started to understand it.
Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go, and even when he is old, he will not turn away from it."

Wish I could have helped with the eggs. Rori told me "I LOVE GOD"
